Chrysler must have quite different types of customers in mind with the design of the 300C Touring: On the one hand you can sit in the back row very luxuriously and have a driver do the work. On the other hand the steering experience of this car with its massive, high "skyline" is so genuine and imperial that one tends do drive personally - best done with suit and tie. But when you let the basedrum of the magnificent sound system beat a Hiphop-Rythem, this vehicle (in black) would also finely suit a young stud with gold necklace, cool sunglasses and designer baseball cap.
On the other hand the 300C Touring is well capable of acting as a working elephant with its very wide trunk.
Setbacks: With its five meters in length this monster is hard to handle parkingwise in European citys also due to its large turning circle. The air conditioning system of our test car did not heat the interior on chilly spring days until turned up to darkest red. It is hard to look up at the traffic light because of the low, sporty roofline. And the lever on the steering wheel featuring all sorts of often used functions is so overloaded that you sometimes activate the wipers when indicating a turn.
Otherwise this two-ton "powerbar" is mostly a well designed show off. When buying you will have to cope not only with its rather strong thirst (inspite of the very fine diesel engine) but also with the costs of an expensive insurance covering the 3000 cc powerhouse with serial particle filtre.

Engine/Powertrain * * * *
We liked: Powerful, elastic Diesel power train, which is really demanded for a live weight of scarcely 2 tons. You cannot hear, that you drive a Diesel.
We didn't like: Naturally it is not little thirsty.
Comfort * * * *
We liked: Noble ambience with opulent driving-and travel sensation of a Rolls Royce. On the side much space for the arms. Very good hi-fi equipment.
We didn't like: Workmanship could be improved. Rear wipers are tiny.
Handling * * *
We liked: Relaxed driving on long freeways.
We didn't like: Tends (typical for a US cruiser) to nod and incline because of soft suspension, on bumpy roads rear axle vibrates in fast curves.
Space/Variability * * * * *
We liked: With an overall length of 5 meters there is plenty of space for everything: Good leg- and head liberty in front and at the rear, luggage trunk 630 and respectively 1600 liters (despite rakish design). Luggage trunk lid opens wide, separated stow able rear seat.
