In 2006 the Chevrolet from General Motors will accelerate powerfully into Europe. A specialist in the field of all-wheel SUVs, the Korean market with the American sounding name has something in the pipeline. Based on the pedigree Sports Utility Vehicle "Captiva" due to appear in mid 2006, the study of the all-wheel driven "Sport-Coupé Crossover" with the internal name "T2X" will celebrate its European Premiere at the Automobile Salon in Brussels at the beginning of the year. The similarities between the name of the study and the antagonists in the Arnold Schwarzenegger epic Terminator are probably not just a coincidence....
The T2X is 4.3 metres long, has a removable glass roof and, after this designer piece, if we are to believe the hints dropped by the company's director in Korea, "a very similar mass-production vehicle could very quickly follow."
What is interesting about the Chevrolet T2X with regards to the politics of the company, is that with for the first time Jin-Wook Choi, a talented Korean designer, the new Creative Centre in Incheon could become very successful, and that precedence has not been given, as has previously been the case, to Italian illustrators of tradition such as Giugiaro, whose creative spurt has in recent times been somewhat lost: a sign that for GM the position of Korea could become the "Design-Dynamo" of the future.
